The Joyful Sale of Broken Objects
Events in the Middle East continue to shock us. We feel impotent in the face of so much suffering, feeling that there is little we can do to make a difference. The Joyful Sale of Broken Objects is an innovative approach to allowing individuals here to make a small difference to someone caught up in the crisis – an act of solidarity that offers a sign of hope that their suffering is not forgotten.
This initiative is the idea of Bryn Higgs, from Altandhu, Ullapool who has worked as a volunteer Human Rights observer in the West Bank, most recently in the spring of this year, and seen the reality of people’s lives at first hand. The first Joyful Sale of Broken Objects took place in the spring locally in Ullapool and sold out almost immediately. Now a new Sale has been launched and Bishop Mark is keen that this should be shared across the diocese. Further information is available on the Joyful Sale website including details of how to participate – please consider offering that sign of hope and encourage others to do so. New items will be added as they become available so, like any shop, please come back from time to time!

A Prayer for the Coronation
The Scottish Episcopal Church has produced the following prayer for use over the period of the Coronation.
Eternal and ever-reigning God,
you created the heavens and the earth
and hold all things in the palm of your hand.
You call us to work with you,
in the ordering of society
and the flourishing of life.
We pray for Charles as he is anointed and crowned King.
Give him wisdom, love and understanding
enabling him to work for the good of all.
May he inspire, encourage and support those he serves,
and be a model of grace, justice and mercy.
We pray too for Camilla as she is anointed and crowned Queen,
for William and all their family, and for all who support them
in their service to the people of this land, and the commonwealth of nations.
As we celebrate our community life,
give us hearts for gratitude and celebration,
a desire to enjoy all life’s benefits with our neighbours,
and voices to sing with joy for all your gifts to us,
through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen
