This Sunday is the third Sunday in Lent; there will be a service in Ullapool. I am grateful to Rev’d David Higgon who has provided this week’s reflection. Next Sunday is Mothering Sunday when there will be services in Ullapool and Achiltibuie.
This year’s Lent Course, entitled Calling a Wounded Earth Home, continues on this Sunday and on Sundays 15th and 22nd March at 11.30 a.m. in St Mary’s. We will finish by 12.30 p.m. If you are unable to attend but would like to receive the materials, please let me know.
The monthly Bible Study Group meets on Monday at 5.00 p.m. at Joy’s house. The group will be continuing to look at the shorter letters of the New Testament.
And another Green Screen film is coming up on Wednesday 18th March at 7.30 p.m. in the Ullapool Ferry Terminal: Fires and Fascism. Suggested donation £5. Please come and bring your friends, a cushion and refreshments. Further details may be found in the News and Notices section of this website.
Following Bishop Mark’s recent visit to The Philippines as part of a USPG international convention on injustice, the Bishop’s Lent Appeal this year will go to the Episcopal Church in The Philippines. It will help the church support the community who live by scavenging on the Sitio Pintor rubbish dump in Manila, a site visited by Bishop Mark. If you wish to contribute to the Lent Appeal, please place your contribution in an envelope marked ‘Bishop’s Lent Appeal’, and either hand it to me or place it in the Offering Basket at one of our services, preferably by Easter.
As intimated last week, looking ahead to the late summer, it is intended that Bishop Mark will ordain Rev’d Anne to the Order of Presbyters (as a priest) on Saturday 29th August. This will take place somewhere within the Charge – I need to find somewhere suitable as St Mary’s is too small! This is a momentous, once in a lifetime event for our congregations as well as for Anne. Please put the date in your diaries and plan to be there to support her if at all possible.
Finally, I will be away for most of this week on the Diocesan Clergy Retreat near Thurso. Please feel free to contact me during that time if you need to – it is not a holiday!
With love and prayers
Rev’d Clare
