The Word This Week – 6th September

Dear Friends in the Northwest

This Sunday is the first Sunday in the Season of Creation and is celebrated as the Feast of God the Creator, a new festival in our church calendar. This Sunday and next, there will be a service in Ullapool in the morning.

Also this Sunday, being the first Sunday in September, we will have a service of sung Evensong in St Mary’s Ullapool at 5.30 p.m.

After Evensong on Sunday, you can come along to The next Green Screen film showing at 7.30 p.m. in the Ullapool Ferry terminal, in conjunction with An Talla Solais Art Week: Getting Under the Skin of Time: Immersion in the Wild World. Entry is free, donations welcome. Please come and bring your friends, a cushion and refreshments. Further information can be found in the News & Notices section of this website

During Art Week, 4th – 13th September, our own Joanna Wright’s exhibition Flowers for Palestine will be in St Mary’s Church and at The Ceilidh Place. These artworks are for sale, with all proceeds going to support families in Gaza.

The monthly Bible Study Group will meet on Monday 14th September at 5.00 p.m. at Joy’s house. The group will be continuing to look at the shorter letters of the New Testament.

We will be celebrating Harvest Festival at our services in Achiltibuie on Sunday 20th September, in Kinlochbervie on Saturday 26th September, in Lochinver on Sunday 27th September and in Ullapool on Sunday 4th October. The Highland Foodbank have particularly requested the following items this year: tinned ham, UHT milk, long-life juice, tinned meat (mince, stew etc.), tinned fruit, crackers/oatcakes, washing up liquid, toiletries, carrier bags.

The Diocesan Mission Conference will take place on Saturday 24th October from 11 a.m. – 3.30 p.m. at Inverness Cathedral. The main speaker is Rev’d Canon Paul Watson who is Diocesan Missioner in the Diocese of Argyll & the Isles, and there will be workshops, stalls and resources. Anne will be attending (I have a service in Kinlochbervie that day). If anyone would like to accompany her, please let us know.

With love and prayers

Rev’d Clare
