The Word This Week – 4th October

Dear Friends in the Northwest

This Sunday is the nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost. This Sunday, there is a service in Ullapool when, as the culmination of the Season of Creation, we are keeping Harvest Festival; the service will be followed by a bring and share lunch. Next Sunday, the twentieth after Pentecost, there will be a service in Ullapool.

Thanks you to those from the congregations at Achiltibuie, Kinlochbervie and Lochinver who have already celebrated Harvest and contributed to our Harvest giving. These gifts have already been passed to the Highland Foodbank to help with their work supporting individuals and families in crisis.

The monthly Bible Study Group will meet on Monday 12th October at 5.00 p.m. at Joy’s house. The group will be continuing to look at the shorter letters of the New Testament.

A word of warning that there will be NO soup lunch after the service in Ullapool on Wednesday 14th October. However, the service at 11.00 a.m. and refreshments will take place as usual.

As previously mentioned, the Diocesan Mission Conference will take place on Saturday 24th October from 11 a.m. – 3.30 p.m. at Inverness Cathedral. Anne will be attending. If anyone would like to accompany her, please let us know.

I will be on holiday from Monday 5th October to Tuesday 20th October inclusive. In my absence, Rev’d David Higgon and Rev’d Anne Macdonald will take services in Ullapool and Achiltibuie. David will be available to provide emergency pastoral care for the Ullapool and Achiltibuie congregations. Ven John Green will provide emergency pastoral cover for the Lochinver and Kinlochbervie congregations.

With love and prayers

Rev’d Clare
