Dear Friends in the Northwest
This Sunday is the fourth in Lent, which is also Mothering Sunday. This Sunday and next, there will be a service in Ullapool. Don’t forget that the clocks go forward this Sunday!
Our Lent course this year, entitled Hope in Hard Places, produced by the Christian charity Embrace the Middle East, continues on Sunday at 11.30 a.m. in St Mary’s.
The diocese is offering a short daily reflection on the theme of ‘Prayer’ throughout Lent. These can be found at https://www.facebook.com/mrc.diocese/.
A reminder that the Bishop’s Lent Appeal this year is to support The Jerusalem and Middle East Churches Association appeal for the Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza. Contributions for the Lent Appeal should be put in an envelope labelled ‘Bishop’s Lent Appeal’ and passed to me, or placed in the collection plate at one of our services, by Easter.
Green Screen will return for a new season on Thursday 1st May with the film Six Inches of Soil. More details nearer the time. Other dates for this year are Thursdays 5th June, 2nd October and 20th November.
Also looking ahead, the provincial NetZero team will be holding a roadshow in Inverness Cathedral on Saturday 25th October. The aim will be to give us all, but especially churches, ideas on how to reduce our carbon footprint.
Finally, two dates for the Ullapool congregation (though others are welcome if they wish!), this coming Wednesday, 2nd April at 1.30 p.m., we will have a Sacristan’s training session for all those who help, or aspire to help, with setting up and clearing up the church and altar for worship. And, on Saturday 12th April at 10.00 a.m., we will be undertaking the annual spring clean in preparation for Easter – many hands make light work!
With love and prayers
Rev’d Clare
