The Word This Week – 29th September

Dear Friends in the Northwest

This weekend, although the Achiltibuie and Lochinver congregations have already done so, the congregations at Kinlochbervie and Ullapool will celebrate Harvest Thanksgiving, and this is the theme of the readings and reflection in this newsletter. The service at Kinlochbervie is on Saturday, and Ullapool on Sunday. Next weekend, there will be a service in Ullapool.

This Sunday is also the Festal Choral Evensong in the Cathedral at 5.30 pm to mark the 150th anniversary of the consecration of the Cathedral, followed by refreshments.

St Michael’s Church in Inverness is offering a Confirmation Study Group on six Wednesday evenings from 6-7pm in Inverness, starting on 16th October. It will look at a range of topics, including liturgy, the Creed, and the distinctive history of the SEC. While billed as for confirmation preparation, these are topics that may be of interest to anyone wishing to revisit their baptism/confirmation promises or simply to learn more about our faith, and it is open to all. I recognise that it is a long way to travel in the evening but, if you are interested, let me know and I can pass on further details.

With love and prayers

Rev’d Clare
