This Sunday is the second Sunday of Easter. This Sunday and next, there will be a service in Ullapool. Please remember that there are no services in Kinlochbervie and Lochinver this weekend. Thank you to everyone who helped in so many different ways to make our Easter services so special and to welcome Bishop Mark and Jane to the Northwest Charge again.
Green Screen returns on Thursday 1st May with Six Inches of Soil at 7.30p.m. in the Ullapool Ferry Terminal. Entry is free. Please come and bring your friends (and a cushion and refreshments!). Further information can be found in the News and Notices Section of this website.
As was announced by Bishop Mark at our Easter services, some exciting news for us is that we to have a curate (properly an assistant curate), a first, we think, for this area. Anne Macdonald is from Stornoway, a native of Lewis although she has not always lived there. She has close family in Inverness. She is coming into ordained ministry in retirement, and I have come to know her over the last three years of her initial theological training as her advisor. She is coming into self-supporting (unpaid) ministry and will be part-time. Subject to satisfactory completion of her studies, she will be ordained deacon in the Cathedral on October (provisionally 4th – I hope some of us can go to support her) and, again subject to progress, will be ordained priest a year later somewhere in the Northwest. As Bishop Mark said, this is a training position, not an extra pair of hands, and we will all have a role of broadening Anne’s experience as she learns about what it means to be God’s people and the Scottish Episcopal Church in our part of the world. She will also be continuing her theological studies while she is with us. I hope that she will visit over the summer and be able to meet at least some of the congregations before October. Please hold Anne in your prayers as she prepares for this significant change in her life.
I will be on holiday from the evening of Sunday 4th May until the evening of Tuesday 20th May. In my absence, Fr David Higgon will be taking most of the services in Ullapool and Achiltibuie and will provide any necessary pastoral cover. Fr John Green will also be available for pastoral cover for the for the first few days of my holiday but is also away from 10th May. My thanks to them for their help.
With love and prayers
Rev’d Clare
