The Word This Week – 25th August

Dear Friends in the Northwest

This Sunday is the fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost. This weekend, there will be services in Kinlochbervie on Saturday, and in Ullapool and Lochinver on Sunday. We welcome Bishop Mark to preside and preach at the Lochinver service.

Next weekend, the fifteenth after Pentecost, is also the first Sunday in the Season of Creation, which runs from 1st September until the Feast of St Francis of Assisi on 4th October. In addition to the usual service of Holy Eucharist in Ullapool in the morning, there will be a service of Sung Evensong in St Mary’s Ullapool at 5.30 p.m.

On Friday 13th September, Green Screen is collaborating with Take One Action to promote their showing of the film Until the End of the World, ‘a journey across three continents, following a journalistic investigation into the fish farming industry’. More information is available at www.takeoneaction.orf.uk/event/something-fishy-ullapool-screening/# This event will take place at the Ferry Terminal , from 6.00pm to 8.30pm. The film (58 min) is followed by a discussion with the film’s director and others.

As previously mentioned, I will be on holiday from Saturday 31st August until Friday 13th September, inclusive. While I am away, Fr David will be taking the services on Sundays and Wednesdays (all in Ullapool) and will be available if any pastoral support is required.

With love and prayers

Rev’d Clare
