Dear Friends in the Northwest
This Sunday is the seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost and the third Sunday in the Season of Creation. This Sunday and next, there will be services in Ullapool and Achiltibuie. At Achiltibuie, we will be keeping Harvest Festival. Next weekend, there will be a service in Kinlochbervie on Saturday and services in Ullapool and Lochinver on Sunday. At Kinlochbervie and Lochinver, we will also be keeping Harvest Festival.
With Harvest Festival celebrations over the next few Sundays, as detailed above, and in Ullapool on Sunday 4th October, a reminder that The Highland Foodbank have particularly requested the following items this year: tinned ham, UHT milk, long-life juice, tinned meat (mince, stew etc.), tinned fruit, crackers/oatcakes, washing up liquid, toiletries, carrier bags.
Thank you to everyone who supported Art Week in Ullapool, in particular Joanna Wright’s exhibition Flowers for Palestine. These beautiful artworks have proved very popular, with £1800 raised (so far). As a result, Joanna has been able to promise monthly support through the winter to the families in Gaza that she is helping. If you haven’t seen the exhibition and are curious, you can see more at https://www.chuffed.org/project/zahrah . Many of the pictures will remain on display in St Mary’s until 25th September, and the church remains open on weekdays 10am – 4pm until then.
As previously mentioned, the Diocesan Mission Conference will take place on Saturday 24th October from 11 a.m. – 3.30 p.m. at Inverness Cathedral. Anne will be attending. If anyone would like to accompany her, please let us know.
Advance notice that I will be on holiday from Monday 5th October to Tuesday 20th October inclusive. In my absence, Rev’d David Higgon and Rev’d Anne Macdonald will take services in Ullapool and Achiltibuie. David will be available to provide emergency pastoral care for the Ullapool and Achiltibuie congregations. Ven John Green will provide emergency pastoral cover for the Lochinver and Kinlochbervie congregations.
With love and prayers
Rev’d Clare
