Dear Friends in the Northwest
This Sunday is the twenty-first Sunday after Pentecost This Sunday, there will be a service in Ullapool. Next Sunday, the twenty-second after Pentecost, there will be services in Ullapool and Achiltibuie, at both of which we will welcome Ven John Green as our preacher.
The Bible Study group, continuing a series of studies about the Holy Spirit, meets on Monday at 5 pm at Joy’s house (51 St Valery Place).
Many of you will know, or remember from previous newsletters, Bryn Higgs who has done two stints in the West Bank as a Human Rights observer, the most recent being earlier this year. He has seen the reality of people’s lives there at first hand. This weekend, he is launching The Joyful Sale of Broken Objects, an initiative that enables individuals here to make a small difference to someone caught up in the crisis – and act of solidarity that offers a sign of hope that their suffering is not forgotten. I will send a separate email about this in the coming days as there is too much information to include here, and, with Bishop Mark’s support, it is being shared across the whole diocese. However, if you wish to learn more, go to www.joyfulsaleofbrokenobjects.net (available from Saturday midday approximately).
Our congratulations to Fr David Higgon who has won The Highland Society of London Prize 2024 for his dissertation Am Bradan. The Wild Atlantic Salmon in the Lives of the People of Wester Ross (centred on Gairloch and Loch Broom), submitted earlier this year as part of his degree studies with UHI. Well done, David!
With love and prayers
Rev’d Clare
