Sandra Campbell – PVG Co-ordinator

My name is Alexandra (Sandra) Campbell. I was born in Lauder in the Borders but spent most of my childhood in North Berwick where I attended St Baldred’s Episcopal Church with my mother and brother, and sang in the choir. I came to Ullapool in the early spring of 1969 to work at the Leckmelm Chalets for the season, during which time I met my future husband, Robin. We were married in 1970 and have three children who all went to the local schools.

During my time in Ullapool, I have run a B&B and, as the children got older, I also ran a newsagent called Spinning Wheel and later worked in Ullasport. I have been involved in many community events and helped with the Cubs for several years.

After coming to Ullapool, I joined the local congregation of the Scottish Episcopal Church which, at that time, had a service once a month in the Village Hall, later moving to the current Church building. I particularly enjoy being a member of St Mary’s because it is a warm and welcoming church family. I have been a member of the Vestry for several years and, in 2021, Bishop Mark appointed me as PVG Co-ordinator for the North West Charge. (PVG stands for Protection of Vulnerable Groups.)
