
An open-air service in Assynt in late November might seem like madness but on the near-perfect afternoon of Saturday 28th November, by the side of Loch Assynt, Bishop Mark licensed the Reverend Doctor Clare Caley as Priest-in-Charge of the Northwest Charge. Around a dozen people attended the Eucharist to welcome Reverend Clare as our new Priest-in-Charge. There was also another service of welcome led by Bishop Mark in St Mary’s Ullapool on Sunday. Restrictions around the COVID pandemic meant it wasn’t possible to have the sort of gathering that is usual on such occasions, but even if the people of ‘The Charge’ couldn’t gather to welcome Revd Clare, the weather certainly welcomed her to Assynt.
