Dear Friends in the Northwest
This Sunday is the fourth Sunday in Lent, which is Mothering Sunday; there will be services in Ullapool and Achiltibuie. Next Sunday, there will be a service in Ullapool. Please note that this month’s services in Kinlochbervie and Lochinver are the following weekend, on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March respectively, which is Palm Sunday weekend.
This year’s Lent Course, entitled Calling a Wounded Earth Home, continues this Sunday and on Sunday 22nd March at 11.30 a.m. in St Mary’s.
Another Green Screen film is coming up on Wednesday 18th March at 7.30 p.m. in the Ullapool Ferry Terminal: Fires and Fascism. Suggested donation £5. Please come and bring your friends, a cushion and refreshments. Further details may be found in the News and Notices section of this website.
The following week, on Wednesday 25th March from 6-8pm, also in the Ullapool Ferry Terminal, there is an information evening about the Gaza Sumud Flotilla, an international humanitarian effort to provide relief to Gaza. Come for all or part of the evening; there will be refreshments, and Intro to the Flotilla at 6.30pm and a film at 7pm.
Following Bishop Mark’s recent visit to The Philippines as part of a USPG international convention on injustice, the Bishop’s Lent Appeal this year will go to the Episcopal Church in The Philippines. It will help the church support the community who live by scavenging on the Sitio Pintor rubbish dump in Manila, a site visited by Bishop Mark. If you wish to contribute to the Lent Appeal, please place your contribution in an envelope marked ‘Bishop’s Lent Appeal’, and either hand it to me or place it in the Offering Basket at one of our services, preferably by Easter.
With love and prayers
Rev’d Clare
