Dear Friends in the Northwest
This Sunday is the first Sunday in Lent; there will be services in Ullapool and Lochinver. Please note that the service in Kinlochbervie this month is not until next weekend, Saturday 28th February. Next weekend, there will also be a service in Ullapool on Sunday.
This year’s Lent Course, entitled Calling a Wounded Earth Home has been produced by the organisation GreenChristian. It asks ‘what kind of people might we need to be to face the challenges of climate change?’ looking at themes of Love, Truth, Wisdom, Justice and Hope. We will be meeting on Sundays 22nd February 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd March at 11.30 a.m. in St Mary’s. There will be time for the usual gathering for refreshments after the morning service before we start. We will finish by 12.30 p.m. If you are unable to attend but would like to receive the materials, please let me know.
Green Screen continues on Thursday 26th February at 7.30 p.m. in the Ullapool Ferry Terminal with Twice Colonized. Entry is free. Please come and bring your friends, a cushion and refreshments. Further details may be found in the News and Notices section of this website.
Sunday 1st March is our next service of Sung Evensong at the winter time of 3.00 pm. If people would like to get together again beforehand to practise the settings for the psalm and canticles in parts, music will be available this weekend and we can meet before the service at about 2.30 pm.
The Ullapool service for World Day of Prayer will take place in St Martin’s RC Church on Friday 6th March at 10.30 am. This year’s service, ‘I will give you rest: Come’, has been written by the Christian women of Nigeria.
Thanks to everyone who came to our study day last Saturday and contributed in so many different ways. It was an intense and thought-provoking day. We were pleased to welcome friends from St Martin’s in Ullapool and from the diocese as well as members of our own congregations.
With love and prayers
Rev’d Clare
