Dear Friends in the Northwest
This Sunday is Remembrance Sunday. There will be a said Eucharist in Ullapool at 9.00 a.m. followed by the community Service of Remembrance in the Church of Scotland at 10.00 a.m., and then the act of Remembrance at the War Memorial. Other communities will have their own Remembrance Sunday events.
This year, our reflection for Remembrance in this newsletter has been provided by Ven John Green who, as many of you know, is a veteran of the Royal Navy. My thanks to him for this.
Next Sunday, there will be services in Ullapool and Achiltibuie at the usual times.
The next meeting of the monthly Bible study group, looking at The Holy Spirit, will be on Monday 11th November at 5.00p.m. at Joy’s house.
Bishop Mark has asked me to let you know that St Margaret’s Aberlour will celebrate their Patronal Festival with a service on Thursday 14th November at 6.30 p.m. All are invited and welcome.
I would like to draw your attention to an event on Wednesday 20th November at the Ceilidh Place Venue in Ullapool at 7pm, Land, Nature, Justice. This is one of 5 events taking place across the Highlands during the visit of the renowned Palestinian environmentalist and human rights activist Professor Mazin Qumsiyeh and his wife Jessie Chang from the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability in Bethlehem.
Advance notice that the Annual Congregational Meeting of St Mary’s Ullapool will take place on Advent Sunday 1st December after our usual service. Also on Advent Sunday, we will have a service of sung Evensong at the ‘winter’ time of 3.00 p.m. in St Mary’s.
With love and prayers
Rev’d Clare
