Dear Friends in the Northwest
This Sunday is the fourth Sunday after Epiphany. This weekend, there will be a service in Kinlochbervie on Saturday and services in Ullapool and Lochinver on Sunday. Next Sunday, which we will keep as Candlemas Sunday, there will be a service in Ullapool.
Easter is quite early this year (31st March), so also the beginning of Lent. On Ash Wednesday, 14th February, there will be services of Holy Eucharist with imposition of ashes in St Mary’s at 11.00 am and 6.00 pm. If you have your palm cross from last year and would like me to burn it for this year’s ashes, please give it to me by Sunday 11th February.
On Shrove Tuesday, 13th February, St Mary’s will be holding a Pancake Party and Angel Drive (like a beetle drive but angels) starting at 5.00pm. Do come to join us if you are able to do so – we had a lot of fun last year!
As you know, St Mary’s is collecting any unwanted calendars and diaries for use by the chaplain at Inverness prison. I will be taking these to the prison early in February, so if anyone still has any to donate, I should be grateful if you would get these to me before then.
A new programme of Green Screen films is being prepared and will be available soon. Unfortunately, I was too keen last week and the date I thought we might show the first film wasn’t confirmed. Dates will be publicised as soon as they are confirmed.
With love and prayers
Rev’d Clare
