Dear Friends in the Northwest
This Sunday is the Feast of Christ the King, the last Sunday of the church year. This weekend, there will be a service on Saturday at 12 noon in Kinlochbervie (The Ceilidh House) when Bishop Mark will preach and preside, and services on Sunday in Ullapool and Lochinver (The Assynt Centre).
Next Sunday is the First Sunday in Advent when there will be a service in Ullapool, which will be followed by the Annual Congregational Meeting. If St Mary’s is ‘your church’, please be there if you can. Also on Advent Sunday, we will have a service of sung Evensong in St Mary’s at the ‘winter’ time of 3.00 p.m. Mary’s. If you would like to stay on after the morning service and meeting until Evensong, soup and rolls will be available at lunchtime.
The next Green Screen film is coming up soon, on Wednesday 6th December at 7.30 pm at the Ferry Terminal. Entry is free. Please come and bring your friends (and a cushion and refreshments!). Further details in the Notices section of this website.
Our Advent Course this year will be looking at some Icons of Mary. It will be held in St Mary’s at 11.45 a.m. on Wednesdays 6th, 13th and 20th December. If you are unable to attend but would like the notes sent to you, please let me know.
The Scottish Episcopal Church is also offering an Advent Series, The Coming of the Christ, on Mondays at 7pm on YouTube. Presented by Rev’d Prof Michael Hull, Principal and Pantonian Professor of Divinity at the Scottish Episcopal Institute, the three sessions are:
1. The Christ: God come down to earth (Monday 4 December 2023)
2. The Christ: God come to save us (Monday 11 December 2023)
3. The Christ: A sign of contradiction (Monday 18 December 2023)
The Series is free and open to all. Register dr.michael.hull.
Also for Advent is the Diocesan Advent Calendar – a series of daily meditations and prayers entitled Journeying Through Advent. It can be accessed through the following link:

If you do not have online access (which has more in it) and would like a paper copy, please let me know. However, at 55 pages and with pictures, please only ask for this if you seriously intend to use it!
With love and prayers
