Dear Friends in the Northwest
This Sunday, we will keep the Feast of St Mary in Ullapool, our Patronal Festival (the actual Feast Day is on 15th August). To be more accurate, this is the main feast of Mary, sometimes referred to as the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, but there are several other feasts of Mary throughout the year. Our guest preacher will be Canon John Cuthbert and there will be a bring and share lunch after the service. All are welcome to join us for that celebration. On this occasion, and since we have a guest preacher who has kindly provided a reflection for the newsletter, it seems appropriate that we all celebrate this festival via this newsletter.
Next Sunday, there will be services in Ullapool and Achiltibuie.
The next meeting of the monthly Bible study group, looking at Parables, is this Monday, 14th August, at 5.00p.m. at Joy’s house.
Looking ahead, on Sunday 3rd September, there will be sung Evensong in St Mary’s Ullapool at 5.30 p.m. This coincides with the beginning of the Season of Creation in our church. All are welcome to join us for Evensong. If you would like a copy of the music in advance, please let me know.
The reflective walk in September, at the All-Abilities Path, will take place on Saturday 9th September meeting at 2.30 p.m. at the All-Abilities Path Leitir Easaidh car park on the north side of the A837 (grid ref. NC172262). A reserve date, in case of poor weather will be Saturday 30th September. If you intend to come, it would be helpful if you would let me know so that, if the weather is such that I decide to postpone, I can let you know.
With love and prayers
Rev’d Clare
