Dear Friends in the Northwest
This Sunday is the third Sunday of Easter; there will be services at Ullapool, Lochinver (The Assynt Centre) and Kinlochbervie (The Ceilidh House). Next week is the fourth Sunday of Easter when there will be a service in Ullapool.
The next meeting of the monthly Bible study group, looking at Parables, will be on Monday 8th May at 5.00p.m. at Joy’s house.
On the afternoon of Saturday 13th May, I am planning another reflective walk, this one at Leckmelm Garden, similar to that which some of us enjoyed at Lael Forest Garden last September. If the weather is awful, the reserve date is Saturday 20th May.
Also on Saturday 13th May, the Scottish Guild of Servers is having a training day for members and prospective members at the Cathedral from 9.30am to 2.30pm. If you are interested in attending, please contact me for further details and the application form.
On Sunday 14th May, Bryn Higgs will be giving a presentation after the service in Ullapool (over coffee) about his experiences as a UN Human Rights observer in Palestine. Some of us remember the short introduction he gave before he went to Palestine last October, so this the follow up.
From Monday 22nd to Wednesday 24th May, I will be hosting a Lutheran pastor who ministers in the Anglican Church in Canada and is visiting the diocese. Although it will be difficult for her to meet many of you, especially during the week, on Tuesday 23rd, I hope to take her out to see some of our beautiful area and visit a few people. She will join us for the Wednesday service and soup lunch on 24th in Ullapool before heading home to Canada.
On Saturday 27th May, the Achiltibuie, Lochinver and Kinlochbervie congregations are having a joint day of worship, fellowship and reflection in the Assynt Centre in Lochinver at which we will be joined by Bishop Mark.
A reminder that I will be on holiday from Monday 24th April to Friday 5th May. In my absence, Fr David Higgon will be taking the services in Ullapool and will provide any necessary pastoral cover for the Ullapool and Achiltibuie congregations. Fr John Green will provide pastoral cover for the Lochinver and Kinlochbervie congregations. My thanks to them for this support.
With love and prayers
Rev’d Clare
