Dear Friends in the Northwest
This Sunday is the first Sunday in Lent. This weekend, there will be a service in Kinlochbervie (The Ceilidh House) on Saturday and in Ullapool and Lochinver (The Assynt Centre) on Sunday. Next Sunday, the second in Lent, there will be a service in Ullapool.
If anyone wishes to contribute to the Disasters Emergency Committee (Christian Aid) earthquake appeal via the church this weekend, there will be a separate basket in St Mary’s this Sunday or you may pass your donation to me at the services. I will be sending the money next week
Our Lent course, Faith in a Time of Ecological Chaos, has been prepared by Fr David Higgon and starts on Sunday. Sessions will take place in St Mary’s on Sundays 26th February, 5th, 12th, 19th & 26th March at 11.30 a.m. If you are unable to attend but would like to receive the handouts, please let me know if you have not already done so.
World Day of Prayer is on Friday 3rd March. This year, the service has been prepared by the Christian women of Taiwan. The ecumenical service in Ullapool is in St Martin’s Roman Catholic Church, Mill Street at 2.00 p.m. There is also a service in Kinlochbervie Church of Scotland at the same time.
Fair Trade Fortnight runs from Monday February 27th to Sunday March 12th. The Ullapool Fair Trade group has a number of events happening and there may be others near you. This is an opportunity to consider what we purchase and the impact we have through our choices on people across the world.
With love and prayers
Rev’d Clare
