The Word This Week – 8th August 2021

Dear Friends in the Northwest,

Today is the Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost. This Sunday, there will be a service in Ullapool. Next Sunday, there will be services in Ullapool, where it is the Patronal Festival, and in Achiltibuie.

As you may have heard in the First Minister’s announcement this week, from next Monday, the need for physical distancing indoors in public places, including churches, is being removed. We will still be required to wear face coverings during services, and are asked to continue the ‘track and trace’ record of attendance for the time being and maintain good hygiene practices and ventilation. The limits on numbers at social gatherings and meetings are also removed meaning that other activities may resume. If the removal of these restrictions causes you concern with regard to church services, please don’t hesitate to contact me – I am happy to discuss these things and make appropriate provision for everyone wherever possible.

Since coming to the North West Charge, I have been made aware of some significant birthdays and anniversaries for some members of our congregations. Others I have become aware of after the event, and there have probably been others of which I am still unaware. If anyone knows of such events and is willing to tell me, I should be very grateful. Meanwhile, Mary Goold from Ullapool has a significant birthday in the coming week and I am sure that everyone will join with me in wishing her a very happy birthday.

With love and prayers,

Rev’d Clare
