The Word This Week – 5th June

Dear Friends in the Northwest

This Sunday is the Feast of Pentecost and also Her Majesty the Queen’s platinum jubilee. This week and next, there will be a service in Ullapool. After the service in Ullapool this week, Caleb is raising money for the Ukraine appeal by providing some baking for us to enjoy so please bring along a little extra if you are able.

The Scottish Episcopal Church has provided the following prayer for the Queen’s jubilee:

Almighty and eternal God,
you uphold and govern all things
both in heaven and on earth,
and by your grace alone kings and queens do reign.

We thank you for all the blessings which you have bestowed upon us
throughout the reign of our sovereign lady, Queen Elizabeth,
whom you have set over us these threescore years and ten.

We thank you for the wisdom of her guidance and her love of peace,
for the care and devotion with which she has served her people,
for the example of her gracious life.

As we rejoice before you with thankful hearts,
we pray that we may ever be united in love and service to one another,
as people called to live according to your will,
for the good of all the world,
and the glory of your great name,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Looking ahead, Thursday 16th June is the Feast of Corpus Christi (Thanksgiving for Holy Communion) when there will be a service in Ullapool at 11.00 a.m.

With love and prayers

Rev’d Clare
