The Word This Week – 24th July

Dear Friends in the Northwest

This week is the seventh Sunday after Pentecost. There will be services in Ullapool, Lochinver and Kinlochbervie. Please note that, due to improvement work taking place at the Assynt Centre, the Lochinver service will be in Inchnadamph Old Kirk. The Kinlochbervie service will be held in the Village Hall again this month.

Next Sunday, the eighth after Pentecost, there will be a service in Ullapool.

As I mentioned last week, the Lambeth Conference of Bishops of the Anglican Communion takes place from 26th July until 8th August. Please pray for Bishop Mark, the other Bishops of the Scottish Episcopal Church, and all those from around the world who will be attending.

I have received details from Christian Aid about the East Africa Hunger Crisis Appeal. They write: ‘After the worst drought in 40 years, millions of people across East Africa are facing the threat of famine and dying. With the war in Ukraine causing global food prices to rocket, we are facing a crisis on crisis. From investing in water purification kits to dispersing animal feed and medicine, Christian Aid is supporting over 300,000 people. We cannot allow it to become a forgotten crisis. … It is not just about help; it is also about hope.’ More information is available on their website www.christianaid.org.uk or, if you do not have internet access and are interested, please ask me.

With love and prayers

Rev’d Clare
